I
did not enjoy working with concrete, which is so very final
and unforgiving. With great excitement, I watched the straw
arrive in a large truck, called a Bale Squeeze. As with a
dump truck, the entire truck-bed stands up on end and releases
a huge tower of straw. This saguaro was later struck by lightning.
It was taller than the house, so acted as a lightning rod.
Its skeleton stood for several years, then blew over in a
storm in May 2006.
