This garden outside my bedroom is framed with a very low straw bale wall. I set the bales up on cement blocks, so they wouldn't get damp from the ground. They are held in place with rebar that goes into the ground. Then, I roofed them with some leftover material from the house construction. They stayed this way for 5 years, and then I wired and stuccoed it, staining the stucco with ferrous sulfate fertilizer mixed in water and sponged over the dried sutcco.The tub is made from bricks, earth and stucco, with a lawn sprinkler plumbed into the bottom. It's all I need to cool off in a hot summer.
